What is Cognitive Remediation Therapy? (CRT)
Cognitive Remediation Therapy is not a ‘talking therapy’, but a psychological treatment for individuals that aims to rehabilitate areas of cognitive functioning, specifically attention, memory and executive function. CRT does not focus on the content of thoughts/beliefs, or emotions of the individual.
CRT teaches basic thinking skills through a programme of exercises that gradually increase in difficulty. Specific techniques known to be helpful people who show no evidence of organic brain disease or acquired brain injury and do not have a primary diagnosis of substance misuse.
