What is Inter-personal Therapy? (IP)
Interpersonal Therapy identifies four areas that contribute to depression (Unresolved grief, Role disputes, Role transitions, Interpersonal deficits). Therapy may explore past and present social roles and relationships to help the individual identify which area(s) is the most responsible for their depression. (For example: the individual may have experienced difficulty forming and maintaining good quality relationships.
Different expectations in different relationships may result in conflict with family, friends, employer, co-workers). Grief, loss and transitional periods that lead to a change in role, such as breakdown of a relationship ,retirement, bereavement.)
